Do you know what you would do about a dental emergency? Do you ever wonder what qualifies as a dental emergency? In reality, there are a few issues you should know about—and a few things you can do to address these emergencies.

Would you be surprised to hear that a tooth falling out is an emergency? If you’re able to visit our team quickly, we may be able to save your natural tooth. However, please remember to bring your tooth to our office when you visit us. Generally, we recommend placing the tooth in a glass of milk. Similarly, you should avoid handling the tooth by its roots. If your tooth broke into pieces, please gather as many as you can.   It’s also important that you contact our team if you lose a filling or if you hurt your jaw.

Finally, did you know that a toothache can actually be considered a dental emergency? While a toothache may not seem too serious, it could be indicative of more serious issues. If your toothache lasts for more than a few days—or if your toothache is severe—we recommend calling us a soon as you can.  In the meantime, you could use store-bought painkillers.
